“In this presentation we will discuss the main facts related to developing technological innovation in the research and academic environment. How to use the knowledge produced in order to achieve solutions and generate wealth? How to reduce the technological gap in Latin America? These will be some of the issues addressed in this lecture.”

Vanderlei Salvador Bagnato simultaneously completed his Bachelor of Physics - USP and Materials Science and Engineering - UFSCar in 1981 and completed his doctorate in Physics - Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1987. He is currently a full professor at the University of São Paulo and coordinator of the USP Innovation Agency. He has been Elected for The Academy of Sciences for Developing World, member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences of the Vatican and member of the National Academy of Sciences (USA). Bagnato coordinates a State Center of Physics and a National Institute of Science and Technology.
